GCHE is a nonprofit organization. GCHE provides education to empower
the public to take control of its health to prevent or treat chronic
diseases. Our philosophy is to help individuals "build a healtiher
lifestyle piece by piece". We see a healthy lifestyle as a puzzle. Some
of the pieces, healthy eating, physical activity, etc, are missing. Yet,
adding a new habit, one at a time, allows for the completion of the puzzle, a
healthy lifestyle. GCHE serves as a resource to physicians, businesses,
schools, and the community-at-large to increase awareness and impart the
knowledge and skills necessary to change lifestyles to reduce health risks.

GULF COAST HEALTH EDUCATORS
HEALTH: Pass It On!
It’s that time of year again! What better time to support a needed community organization that is committed to supporting our coastal counties in the prevention and management of chronic disease and our fight against childhood obesity!
Gulf Coast Health Educators is launching its first donor campaign:
Health: Pass It On!
Mississippi is ranked #1 in heart disease, #2 in obesity and diabetes. No state needs health education more than we do. Our goal is to help spotlight these critical issues for ourselves and other Mississippi health organizations. Last year we instructed over 800 coastal residents in classes such as Healthy Heart, Diabetes Management and Weight Management. 80% of those participants experienced improved blood pressure, cholesterol and weight loss. 70% reduced their A1C. They are now managing their health on their own!
We have also reserved a date for our 3rd Annual Conquering Childhood Obesity Conference. It will be held on September 12-13, 2014 at the Biloxi Civic Center. This event will instruct leaders who work with youth to effectively teach nutrition and physical fitness. Let’s have a powerful impact on conquering childhood obesity in Mississippi!
